VISA. You need one in case of visiting Indonesia
In order to visit Indonesia and thus Bali you must have a valid visa, which allows you to do so. Visitors must enter and exit through one of the 15 airports, 21 seaports or 1 overland border post officially approved as an “international gateway” by the Indonesian Immigration department.
Countries that don’t need VISA
Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region, Malaysia, Morocco
Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand ,Vietnam
All other countries require VISA !
Types of VISA:
There are different types of VISA depending on country of origin and purpose of visit.
VISA free: There were mentioned some countries above that are Visa-free. Nevertheless citizens of those countries need to have a passport that is valid over 6 months of the day of their arrival and must have an onward and return ticket. They can stay in country for 30 days. This period can not be extended or changed in another type of Visa.
VISA on arrival (VoA): Citizens of the countries that require Visa must also have a valid passport for at least another 6 months of the arrival day and an onward and return ticket. Furthermore they need to pay US$25 for a stay up to 30 days. This kind of Visa is extendable for another 30 days and an additional payment of US$20, but it can’t be converted into another form of Visa. VoA travelers must firstly go to one of the "VoA Counters", in order to pay the appropriate fee. Then after getting their passport stamped, they proceed to the Immigration Clearance Desk.
Business Visa: This kind of Visa is given for travelers for normal business activities, such as seminars, conferences etc. It is valid for 60 days and can be used for one or many visits.
Social-Cultural Visa: That Visa is for 60 days visit, too, but it can be extended upon application in Indonesia. It concern visits based on relative visiting, exchange between educational institutions, attending training programs or social organizations.
Employment Visa: People who came to Indonesia in order to be employed need an employment Visa that is given to them by an organization or a company.
Useful tips when travelling to Bali.
It is prohibited to bring into Bali weapons, narcotics and explosive and pornographic material. As far as animals are concerned they are also banned because they are considered to a source of rabies. You are allowed to bring alcohol and tobacco, but in certain quantities. For alcohol you can bring at least one liter. As for tobacco, it is 200 cigarettes, 100gr of tobacco and 50 cigars. Finally you can’t export over Rp 5.000.000 and national treasures like tortoise shell, crocodile skins and ivory.
